Youth

The Presbyterian Youth Connection (PYC) meets every Sunday night at 4:30pm to discuss the Gospel and the Bible. We invite all 7th-12th grade students to join us for a time of worship, fun, snacks, and study. We believe that all good things point us to Jesus, so we enjoy taking time to look for Jesus in our everyday lives – including ways we see Jesus and the Gospel in movies, the games we play, and our daily lives through God sightings.

The relationships formed between our youth and the student leaders is at the heart of our ministry. Heading up our youth, Sarah Leonard works with our team of volunteer youth leaders to intentionally plan each lesson, game, and activity with the goal of seeing students transformed into growing disciples of Jesus. Our primary aim is not to entertain or even teach values, but to impact hearts.

Oakland has an active middle and high school ministry with a place for every student. In addition to regularly scheduled meetings on Sundays, we also host an annual beach retreat, fun relationship building outings, church lock-ins, service projects, and mission trips over the summer. Through service and fun, we grow closer to each other and learn how to model God’s love with all people.

We would love to have you join us! If you have any questions about our youth group or would like to give us a heads up that you plan on visiting, please reach out to Sarah Leonard at sarah@oaklandpresbyterianchurch.org.
