Scouts at Oakland

Girl Scout Troop 174

Girl Scout Troop 174 meets weekly at Oakland. The girls have been busy visiting area museums and earning badges. In March the traveled to Durham to visit the Life and Science Museum.

Their next stop was the Exploris Museum in Raleigh, and they ended with a trip to Fayetteville to visit the chirldren's Museum. The troop attended the theatrical production of Beauty and the Beast on May 2.

The May meeting will be the final one for the 2004-2005 year.

Boy Scout Troop

At its February meeting, The Session unanimously passed a motion to charter a Boy Scout Troop, which will be Troop 33. The Session agreed to charter the troop, purchase the flag, and pay the charter fee. A session member will be an executive officer for the troop.

Cub Scout Pack 33

Oakland 's Cub Scout Pack 33, under troop leader Phil Loeske, has provided den meeting schedules and leaders. The pack now has seven of the eight dens meeting at Oakland. 

Den meetings will be conducted on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays. Pack meetings are scheduled for fourth Tuesday of the month in the fellowship hall.

The October pack meeting will be held off site during an overnigt camping trip. However, OPC will provide classroom space the week of October 15 for a 3-session training of "God and Family" to satisfy a requirment of the Webelos Badge. Popcorn sales continue trough most of October. Popcorn delivery to the dens is scheduled for November 7 at OPC.
