Children and Youth at Oakland

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matt. 19:14; NIV)

A group of 10,000 students, ages 12 to 19, were recently asked, "If you were choosing a church, what would be important to you?"

"A welcoming atmosphere where you can be yourself" was the answer from 74% of the respondents. The second most frequent response was "quality relationships with teenagers." Other very important aspects teens noted included "a pastor who understands and loves teenagers," "lessons that tackle key questions," and "fun activities."

At Oakland Presbyterian, youth from preschoolers to high schoolers are critical to our growing church. Our youth ministry is active and speaks to these values, among many others. From service projects to ministry leadership, Oakland Presbyterian focuses energy on what we see as the future of the church--the youth.
