Oakland was founded in October 1858 and not even COVID-19 has stopped our ministry together. On November 8, 2020, we will celebrate the fruit of 162 years of people being connected to God and to each other at Oakland Presbyterian Church with a 9:30AM Sunday School Gathering.
Over prepackaged continental breakfasts, we’ll share the Spiritual Journey Collages, which many of us made for Easter 2020. Please bring your 8”x8” collage commemorating the people, places, songs, and scriptures that worked together to connect you to God and to Oakland. If you have not completed yours already, THERE’S STILL TIME! Instructions are below.
Easter at Oakland is a party with a purpose. The Resurrection of Jesus proves that every sin which separated us from God is forgiven and all the divisions between us as people have been overcome. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we incorporated into the Body of Christ and so intimately connected to God and each other.
To celebrate these connections, we invite you as a family or an individual to make a collage depicting your spiritual journey and your spiritual family.
This art project can be done while you are home that we will then put together as one big piece of art. Below are links to a How To Guide Document; a How To Video; a Folder full of vintage Oakland Photos; and a sample collage. When we are able to get together, we are going to put all our collages together into one giant collage of Oakland’s faith journeys and spiritual families. We can’t wait to see the ways we are all different and have different paths, but are all connected through the one body of Christ.
