Every year on Super Bowl Sunday, we host Souper Bowl Sunday, a soup lunch to raise funds for children and youth camping. This summer we will send children to Camp Albemarle, Middle Schoolers to the Great Escape, and High Schoolers to Pocahontas, VA on a mission trip.
You can help pay for these awesome, gospel opportunities by eating delicious bowls of soup.
$5 a person, no more than $12 a family.
One Quiet Night
a musical for people to busy with Christmas to celebrate Christmas
On December 13, Oakland will gather for a special night of music and drama to lead us into Christmas. The Youth and the Choir will perform a brilliant drama, One Quiet Night, about a family too busy with Christmas preparations and chores to actually celebrate Christmas.
Far too often we overload Christmas with tasks and hopes and expectations, that they actually inhibit us from worshiping and welcoming Jesus.
We will also take up our annual JOY GIFT OFFERING. The Joy Gift Offering, all of which helps provide financial assistance to current and former church workers and their families and also enables deserving students to attend Presbyterian-related racial ethnic colleges and schools. For more information visit the Christmas Joy website.
FEBRUARY 1ST IS SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY
(there’s also a football game that day)
The Oakland Youth will be dishing up delicious, nummy soups after Church on Sunday, February 1st to raise money for their upcoming 30-Hour Famine Project. Bring some extra cash and an empty belly to enjoy a quick lunch and good conversation and leave plenty of time to get home for the big game.
If you’re interested in donating a pot of soup email Michele, email@example.com.
