The 5% Life

The 5% Life is a simple way that you can use everyday moments to connect every part of every life to Jesus, starting with your own life and moving outward into your family and the world.

RESOURCES TO GET YOU STARTED

The heartbeat of our lives is a heart connection with Jesus, which is cultivated through daily time meditating on God’s Word and talking to God in prayer.

Start your daily time with God using Our Daily Bread Devotionals. These short devotionals are available in multiple formats, including print copies in our Fellowship Hall.

We believe families are the primary discipleship small groups. D6 Family has a couple of options to help families with personal or family devotions. Their At Home Bundles include an aligned devotion booklet for each member of your family based on age that you can purchase ($6 per person). If you would like to see a sample of the At Home Bundle Devotions or would like to learn more about purchasing a bundle for your family, email Sarah@oaklandpresbyterianchurch.org.

Through D6, you can also subscribe to receive their weekly SPLINK email. Splink is a simple way to link your family together spiritually. Each weekly entry provides three free idea-packed activities (called “Splinks”) to help you and your family engage in spiritual conversations. Visit https://d6family.com/splink/ to view past Splinks or to subscribe to their weekly email list.

If you’re looking for a devotion specifically tailored to your season of life, the YouVersion Holy Bible App, has over a million Bible reading plans for everything from anxiety to marriage to leadership. You can also go a step further and connect with contacts to share plans and study the Bible together through the app.

We don’t follow Jesus alone. From the earliest days, Jesus’s followers gathered regularly and “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42).

Join us in-person or online at 10:30 am every Sunday for our Worship Service. Our online services are available on Facebook or Youtube. If you decide to join us in person, we invite you to join us in fellowship following the service for lemonade and coffee in the Fellowship Hall.

Information happens in big groups, but transformation happens in small groups. Sunday Worship is vital and sermons teach key Biblical principles, but small group discussions allow for personal application and intimate prayer support.

Join one of 3 Adult Sunday School Classes at 9:30AM on Sunday Mornings.

The Betty Jo Hatcher Class studies the Present Word Curriculum. We favor discussion over lecture. Our study is designed to take us through the entire Bible in a 6-year period. Each quarter works its way through different books of the Bible and focuses on a different theme.
The Upper Room Class is studying David C Cooks Scripture Press curriculum. As a group, we value good Biblical scholarship and heartfelt discussion. Our study builds a solid faith foundation with a high level of Scripture and how we should apply the Scriptures to our lives.
The Faithful Followers are focused on learning how God can and will use us, right where we are. We do not have a set curriculum, but rather choose current books and studies to read and discuss together always looking for ways to improve our relationships with Jesus and each other.

Kids & Teens Grow Together in Small Groups specifically tailored for their lives.

PYC is for all kids in 7th-12th grade. Meetings in the youth center every Sunday at 4:30pm, plus we plan fun outings/gatherings, play crazy games that point us to Jesus, and grow together through retreats and lock-ins.

Be Bold is our preteen group for 4th-6th graders. They meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 6:30pm in the youth center. We ask bold questions about our faith and God, using the scriptures to find the answers.

Oakland Kids is for our K-5th kids. They meet during Sunday School (9:30 am), where they get to participate in a kids time of worship. All youth are welcome to attend. Our older youth serve as leaders & helpers.

We don’t HAVE to Serve, WE GET TO SERVE. Jesus himself “did not come to be served, but to serve,” and we connect deeply with his heart and joy when we love others practically.

SERVE NIGHT the place find your sweet spot to serve in Oakland or our community.

Just show up with your family at 6:15 for dinner, and we’ll help you each find a place to change lives. Devotional begins at 6:50 and Ministry Teams meet 7:00-8:00PM.
Dinner is our way to say, “Thanks for making a difference.” Dinner is from 6:15-6:50PM.
Bring the whole family. The Oakland Kids will meet as their own ministry team crafting or preparing upcoming mission events, while youth and adults serve on teams.
Worship Planning, Property Management, Congregational Care, Outreach Events, and Family Ministry are just a few activities happening each month.
